Continuing education is an important part of how we provide thoughtful, high-quality care to our patients at Faithful Friends Veterinary Clinic. It also gives our team opportunities to share what they have learned with other veterinary professionals and help advance feline medicine beyond our own clinic.
This month, two members of our Cat Specialty Center team, Dr. Ashlie Saffire, DVM, DABVP (Feline), and Caitlin Dutcher-Lundy, BS, RVT, VTS (CP-Feline), will be speaking at veterinary conferences focused on education and improving feline care.
The Southwest Veterinary Symposium
Dr. Saffire and Caitlin are heading to San Antonio for the Southwest Veterinary Symposium, taking place September 17-20.
Their presentations cover a range of topics that reflect the work they do every day with feline patients. Dr. Saffire will speak on feline lower urinary tract disease and updates in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of feline hyperthyroidism.
Caitlin will lead several sessions for veterinary technicians focused on feline nursing and patient care, including kidney disease, urinary health, blood transfusions, dentistry, and advanced technician training.
The FelineVMA Annual Conference
The following week, they are traveling to Fort Lauderdale for the Feline Veterinary Medical Association Annual Conference, September 24-27.
The FelineVMA conference brings together veterinary professionals with a shared interest in improving the health and well-being of cats. They will both participate in sessions covering topics such as critical feline patients, ultrasound, infectious disease, hyperthyroidism, anesthesia, nursing care, and creating more cat-centered veterinary experiences.
They will also present together during a case-based session focused on caring for critically ill feline patients with gastrointestinal disease.
For Caitlin, the conference is also an opportunity to speak about the role of veterinary technicians in modern medicine. Her sessions will explore ways technicians can use their training and skills to improve patient care, strengthen veterinary teams, and support better outcomes for cats.

Opportunities like these allow our team to share their expertise while learning from other veterinary professionals across the country. They bring those conversations and new perspectives back to Faithful Friends, helping us continue to advance the care we provide to our feline patients.
Dr. Saffire’s feline education efforts will also take her overseas this fall. After the FelineVMA Annual Conference, she’ll travel to Scotland to speak at a conference focused on senior cats, sharing her feline expertise with veterinary professionals internationally.
She’ll also be speaking right here in Dublin next month as part of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine’s 49th annual symposium. On October 17, Practical Approaches: Neurological Disorders & Feline Medicine, presented by Royal Canin, will bring veterinary professionals together for continuing education focused on improving patient care.
We’re proud to have Dr. Saffire and Caitlin representing Faithful Friends Cat Specialty Center nationally this fall. Their commitment to teaching, learning, and advancing feline medicine is the same commitment they bring to the cats and pet parents we care for every day.
