Distemper – a highly contagious, potentially life-threatening disease that can cause respiratory, urinary, digestive and eventually neurological symptoms; spread through the air and by direct contact.
Adenovirus Type 2 – one of the causes of Tracheobronchitis (kennel cough); easily spread in confined areas such as boarding/grooming facilities, puppy classes and doggy day care. The vaccine for Adenovirus type 2 also provides cross immunity for Canine Infectious Hepatitis, which can cause severe liver disease.
Parvovirus – causes severe bloody diarrhea and vomiting that can be fatal; transmitted through ingestion of or exposure to infected feces.
Leptospirosis – a bacterial disease that causes kidney damage; spread through contact with urine-contaminated water or food.
Rabies – a fatal viral disease that is transmitted through infected saliva from bite wounds; Rabies vaccination is required by law.
Bordetella bronchiseptica – another cause of Tracheobronchitis (Kennel Cough); The vaccine for Bordetella is orally administered and recommended for every dog that will be in contact with other dogs.
Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis (Herpesvirus) and Calicivirus – cause upper respiratory and eye infections; transmitted through aerosol droplets.
Panleukopenia (Previously Feline Distemper) – causes severe vomiting and diarrhea that can be fatal; transmitted in all secretions and excretions of infected cats.
Feline Leukemia (FeLV) – suppresses the immune system and causes anemia; transmitted through direct cat-to-cat contact. The vaccine is strongly recommended for kittens and all outdoor cats.
Rabies – a fatal viral disease that is transmitted through infected saliva from bite wounds; vaccination is required by law.
FIV/FeLV testing is recommended for all kittens and adult outdoor cats, or those with unknown FIV/FeLV status.
