The care of senior and geriatric feline patients is incredibly important and can be daunting to a pet parent. Seniors need to be examined regularly to screen them for underlying disease so we can diagnose and intervene early. Advanced senior care visits with preventative lab work and blood pressure monitoring are essential. During your cat’s senior exam at the CSC, they will receive a full physical and dental examination, orthopedic examination, blood pressure screening, pain assessment, and body and muscle condition scoring. For patients with chronic pain and osteoarthritis, advanced care and treatment plans will be discussed. Chronic disease management can be complicated, especially when several diseases exist.

At the CSC we can manage the most complex of cases, helping you prioritize what is most important, develop the treatment plan that respects and retains the human-animal-bond, and help with any concerns you may have about quality-of-life monitoring and when to start thinking about end-of-life preparation. We have a close relationship with the doctors of Lap of Love Columbus, a hospice and at-home euthanasia organization, and are happy to coordinate consultations when needed.
